Need the code for your factory 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO Blaupunkt radio? Hopefully, I have the answer!

The factory radio/stereo requires a code to unlock all of the features and operate the radio. Many owners have had the factory radio cd player/changer break on them, causing cd discs to no longer play or even become permanently stuck inside the radio. Purchasing a used radio to replace the broken one is the easiest fix. There are many available online through websites such as eBay and CraigsList. These radios can easily be replaced using removal tools. Unfortunately for a used radio from another 5th Generation GTO to work in your vehicle, you will need the code to unlock the radio and use its features. Luckily there is a website to find and locate the code for the factory radio using the serial numbers.

Follow these steps to replace your factory 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO radio with a used radio from another vehicle:

Remove your factory radio using the removal tools. Tools can be purchased here: https://gtog8ta.com/04-06-gto/04-06-gto-radio-removal-key-tool/

DO NOT INSTALL THE NEW RADIO REPLACEMENT YET! On the new radio, be sure to write down the serial numbers of the radio. You will find the numbers on the stickers on the back of or on top of the radio housing. The serial number will start with “BP 2258 X XXXXXX”, the “x’s” being a series of numbers. Should be 12 numbers.
Now the fun part! There are two resources to get the code for your Blaupunkt factory GTO radio using the serial numbers you retrieved as described above. My first choice is here: https://1337vending.com/radiocode/ This website works for American vehicles and should spit the code out and work for you just fine. Enter your serial number and receive the 4-digit code for your Blaupunkt radio. My second choice if the above link does not work is here: https://ukbookshelf.co.uk/gto This is guaranteed to work with money refunded if unsuccessful. The price is affordable and will save you hours of headaches. Be sure to write down your radio 4-digit code, and proceed to the final step.

Install the new replacement radio. Gently push the radio into place and you will feel and hear the radio snap into place. Turn the radio on and enter the 4-digit code using the numbered 1-6 buttons under the LCD screen. Enjoy!

Did you know your 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO has a “Secret Menu”? It’s actually not a secret menu but it is a “Diagnostic Test” for your vehicle. This menu will diagnose your vehicle and tell you such things as coolant temperature, battery voltage, remaining fuel, and more.

This menu can be accessed by doing the following steps:

On the dashboard to the right of the steering wheel you will see the trip computer buttons, which also act as the menu buttons:

While holding both the “MODE” and “SET” buttons down at the same time, turn the ignition key to the “accessory on” position. You do not need to start the car at this point. Just turn the key enough to see the dashboard cluster activate. If done correctly you should see the screen on your dash cluster say “Ver:” along with a “Serial No.” reading similar to the screenshot below. Once you see this you can release the buttons.

From here you can decide to either leave the key in the accessory on position or start the car. I recommend starting the car to get the full diagnostic scan of your vehicle. Do not turn the key to the off position or the diagnostic test menu will be turned off.

Press the “MODE” button to scroll through the diagnostics of the vehicle. You will see the following items:

1. GM PART NUMBER – Part number of the instrument gauge cluster
2. SWITCH VOLTAGE – Volts going to the Mode Switch
3. BATTERY VOLTAGE – Volts of your car battery
4. BRAKE VOLTAGE – At “0” until you press the brakes
5. FUEL CAL PART # – Fuel Calibration possibly?
6. PETROL SENDER VALVE – Tells the fuel gauge how much fuel you have. 255/255 is a full tank.
7. REMAINING FUEL – How much fuel is left in the gas tank
8. INSTANTANEOUS FUEL – How much fuel is being used with the vehicle running
9. COOLANT TEMP – Temperature of the coolant
10. SPEED – Pretty self-explanatory. Your vehicle speed.
11. TACHO – Tachometer reading in Revolutions Per Minute (RPM’S)
12. PARK LAMPS – On or Off value
13. DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS – ON or Off value
14. TROUBLE CODES – I assume zero’s are good. Have not used this for trouble codes.
15. MYSTERY – Prepare to have your dashboard gauges go crazy. It’s actually a dash gauge cluster test. It’s normal, you didn’t break anything, but you freaked out when it happened didn’t you!

When you want to exit the diagnostic menu simply turn off the car and remove the key. The dash cluster will go back to normal.

ATTENTION 2004-2006 PONTIAC GTO OWNERS!

All 5th Generation owners want to know how to activate the shift light that is built into the tachometer on the dashboard! Read below how you can do this yourself, at home, using nothing more than your Windows-based laptop and a USB to OBD1 cable.

Ever wonder what that little circle is that never lights up at the end of the tachometer? That is the shift light that was disabled from the factory. Want the shift light working on your 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO? You can reprogram the instrument cluster yourself to turn on that shift light and more by downloading the VZ ClusterMod program below. The program will do all of the following:

* Activate Factory Shift light
* Custom shift light activations for all manual and automatic transmissions (choose your RPM)
* Custom startup logo including “Holden”, “HSV”, “Pontiac”, and more
* Custom text when the ignition is turned off
* Turn off Daytime Running Lights light
and more……

Note: You do not need to pull the instrument cluster out of your vehicle. The programming can be done from inside your car, using a laptop computer and an OBD to USB cable.

You now can reprogram the instrument cluster yourself and have that shift light on the dashboard working! The program will also clear the “airbag” fault light that will be activated if you have removed the driver or passenger seats. The airbag light can only be cleared through the OBD plug. Disconnecting the battery will not clear the code. Don’t pull out your instrument cluster and pay the high price of activation and shipping. This service costs as much as $130 online and you have to ship the instrument cluster. Now you are out a lot of money, and have a car that you can’t drive until you get the cluster back!

Below you will find all the instructions to work with the downloaded program. All instructions and documentation are enclosed in the download.

FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW VERY CAREFULLY:

Purchase a USB to OBD1 16 pin cable. I recommend purchasing a quality product that will ensure a perfect connection between your laptop and the OBD plug in the vehicle. You do not want some kind of error to happen during programming because of an intermittent connection.

The cable can be purchased from OBD Diagnostics, Inc. Phone (310)793-2410 or Click on the link to view the cable and how to purchase: https://aldlcable.com/products/aldlobd2u.asp

Download the VZ Cluster Mod program below. Must have Windows (7,8, or 10) Operating System device. Download the program to somewhere on your device where you would like it to be and easily accessible. YOU DO NOT NEED TO INSTALL THE PROGRAM. Simply placing the folder on your Widows-based machine will work. There is nothing to install on your machine. The program simply uses a combination of MS-DOS and Python drivers to read the dash panel of your vehicle.
It’s big, it’s bad, and we love it! Sometimes these bad boys need to be replaced though. The rubber pieces over the “Lock” and “Unlock” buttons on the FOB have a tendency to wear out. And don’t even get me started on how small they made the trunk release button on the key FOB, So anyways, this is the process for getting a new key.

Need a new key for your 2004-2006 Goat? I’ll show you where to get the key and how to program it yourself.

You can get new GTO keys from here: GTOG8TA.COM

You will need to have your new key cut. I’m assuming you have at least one working key, so find an Auto Dealership parts counter that cuts the GTO style key. Hint: Hyundai and Kia also use these style keys. I also just recently had a new key cut at a Chevy Dealership. Just make sure where ever you go to have the key cut can laser cut the key. Once your new key is cut, you now need to program it so it works with your vehicle.
