In reply to <a href="https://markquitterracing.com/freeservicemanual/#comment-4892">Al Salvati</a>.

In the past I have used this rack with zero fitment issues.

<a href="https://www.partsgeek.com/29z6vp7-pontiac-gto-steering-rack.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">https://www.partsgeek.com/29z6vp7-pontiac-gto-steering-rack.html</a>

This is also a remanufactured rack and pinion. But the factory tie rods do work with this rack. I believe they do require you to send your rack and pinion back to them, which is worth it to get your core deposit back.

The inner tie rods are near impossible to replace, and you are better off going with and good remanufactured unit such as the Cardone.

Hope this helps. Thanks for the question and hope your ride is repaired soon :)

Hello Mark,

Could use your humble opinion on a Power Steering Rack for my '06 GTO. I now have a reman Unit by BBB, although they do not sell replacement INNER Tie Rods for their Unit. Their Tie Rod is different from an OEM, so I may be stuck buying the entire Power Steering Rack.
Anyway, your thoughts would be appreciated on who to go to for a new Rack, other than a BBB unit....
Thanks much in advance,
Al

Most if not all of the information in the service manual is universal and applies to 2004, 2005, and 2006 model years. The part numbers may vary for 2004, but the overall information on how to repair the vehicle is the same. This manual was received years ago, and I have done my best to preserve it as best as possible and add information as it is found to make it more complete. The older these cars get, the harder it is to find good quality service manual information.

So to answer your question, YES, the power steering sections would be the same for 2004 as the 2005 and 2006 models.

The bits that are missing for the 2005 & 2006, are they the same as the 2004? For instance, the 2005 does not have a specific section for power steering. Is the power steering different between the ls1 and ls2?

Thank you for this. This saves me so much hassle of having to deal with these mechanics as most of this stuff I can fix myself and only needed the documentation. Much appreciated!

I see what you are saying. I corrected the problem by adding the link to the DropBox folder as well, giving you a choice to download from Google Drive or DropBox. Both are safe and virus free at the time of being uploaded to the cloud service. Here is the link to the DropBox:

Your review is correct. Some of the pages do overlap on some sections and are hard to read. Fortunately there are very few sections like that. Thank you for your comment and review.
